Our Jim Thorpe Inn investigation was recently featured on WVIA’s State of PA.

First and foremost we would like to say thank you to some people who helped make our investigation, and our WVIA show possible.

Kathryn, Kevin, and Steve,
Thank you so much for all you put into this show. I know it was a lot of work, but we had so much fun doing it, and appreciate everything you all put into it. It was truly a pleasure investigating with all of you, and you are welcome to join us anytime on future investigations!

Dave and The Jim Thorpe Inn Staff,
Thank You for giving us access to the Inn. You were all so nice and cooperative, and we really had a great time. The Inn is beautiful and you hospitality was appreciated. The rooms as you can see were stunning,it was like stepping back in time.

The History

The Jim Thorpe Inn was established as the White Swan Hotel. It burned to the ground in the late 1840’s. The New American Hotel was later built on its foundation, and in 1988 it was bought by its current owners and renamed the Inn at Jim Thorpe.

Several claims of paranormal activity have been reported over the years. Some examples are drawers opening and closing by themselves, TV’s turning on and off, furniture moving, guests possessions disappearing and returning in the strangest places, and even shadow figures and full body apparitions.

We were also told the story of Madeline a woman who was having an affair with a married man in the area. The two would reserve different rooms on the same floor of the inn, and meet in secret. One night someone new was working the desk, and gave Madeline a room on a different floor. When her beloved did not come for her, she was grief stricken, and in earlier days, it was not proper for her to go to the desk and ask for him, so she committed suicide in her room. It is said that her spirit still wanders the inn searching for the man she loved.

The Investigation

Right off the bat we started experiencing some strange things. In Room 211, the temperature dropped from 72 degrees to 58 degrees within a matter of minutes! We checked the windows, vents and air conditioning and came up with no natural causes for such a drastic decline in temperature.Seen here is a picture of Kathryn of WVIA who also experianced this temperature drop.

Note: In preparation for our show on WVIAexperienced, all EVP’s were analyzed by an audio specialist and it was confirmed that these tracks are authentic and have not been tampered with in any way. This guarantee is along with our own personal guarantee as a group that as always any evidence we find on an investigation is authentic, and we DO NOT tamper with our evidence in an way.

Room 211

In this first EVP, you will hear investigator Kelly to ask for someone to talk into our EVP recorder. The response seems to be "Don’t want to"

Room 310

These next two EVP’s were captured at different times in the same room. Upon further analysis, we have gotten confirmation that it is the same voice in each track. The first one says "Hello". The second one says "Hiya"

In this next EVP, one of our investigators was asking what was so bad that happened, and after that, you can hear what sounds like whimpering.

Room 410

At one point in this room, two of our investigators hear what sounded like our video camera turning off. When they looked at it, the power was not only off, but the button was also turned into the off position. In this next EVP, you will hear the camera power off, followed by Kelly confirming that the camera was shut off

In this next EVP, you will hear investigator Mike trying to get some interaction by asking for the ghost to knock on the wall. You will hear a knock back to his question.

This last EVP was also quite a personal experience for us. Two of our investigators Katie and Chantel were in the room with one of the staff members of WVIAHi ya, Kevin. Prior to this EVP, Kevin had asked if he can try some EVP work. He did some provoking asking the ghost to turn the TV on. He said that if the ghost would turn the TV on, he would call it the scariest ghost he had ever encountered and never come back to the room.
In the EVP, you will hear a noise, we question the noise and Kevin says it sounded like it came from the bathroom. Katie says lets go check it out, and then you will hear the TV power on. Needless to say, Kevin was not in room 410 for the rest of our stay at the inn!
